Independent Reviewing Officer - Children's Safeguarding & Quality Assurance Unit

We currently have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced independent Reviewing Officer’ for a temporary contract based in Swinton, Manchester.

Position Details:

• Independent Reviewing Officer to work within the Children’s Safeguarding & Quality Assurance Unit
• Temporary on-going contract (Initially until May 2021, with the potential for the contract to be extended further)
• Full-time position: 36 Hours per Week

Job Description:

• To review the care plans of children and young people, to ensure that they are meaningful and child-centered
• To ensure care planning has a positive impact on outcomes for children and young people
• To chair reviews of care plans for looked after children, within statutory timescales
• To ensure that recommendations made are specific, achievable, measurable, realistic, and timely
• To complete review minutes within statutory timescales
• To monitor the progression of looked after children review recommendations in between reviews
• To facilitate the effective participation of children and young people within the care planning process and looked after children reviews
• To advocate for children and young people, where appropriate support children and young people to access advocacy services
• To ensure that each child and young person is offered an IRO contact to discuss their care plan

Requirements:

• To have at least 5 years post qualifying experience in social work
• To have experience in a supervisory role within social work
• Professional credibility through proven relevant experience in a similar role
• Experience in using a strengths-focused approach to support improved outcomes for children and young people
• Models and demonstrates Salford’s values and behaviors
• Detailed knowledge of legislation and law in relation to children and families
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of the implementation and management of complex casework process and procedures
• Ability to translate complex ideas and information into meaningful and ‘user-friendly’ information; ability to ‘tell the story’ to bring people along and ensure all audiences understand the key messages
